Overview of Pencak Silat:
Pencak Silat is a traditional martial art originating from Southeast Asia, particularly from Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, and Singapore. It's both a method of self-defense and a deeply cultural performance art that emphasizes fluid movements, mental discipline, and spiritual development.
"Pencak" generally refers to the performance aspect (the aesthetic, dance-like part).
"Silat" emphasizes the combative and self-defense elements.
